Match your personality with an appropriate career

In average, people spend about fifteen to twenty percent of their lives working. You may think that this sounds like a small percentage, but these are just work hours counted in. A job you decide to do is a part of who you are, like it or not, and not everyone is capable of leaving all the work where it belongs – in an office. If you have a job experience that’s at least a couple of years long, you know how difficult it is to forget all about work-related problems when you leave your office.

Scientifically speaking, that’s completely human – by thinking things through over and over again in order to find a solution that works best for everyone shows a great level of empathy and responsibility. On the other hand – if you have that special superhero ability of making the decisions based on logic and reason only, you should know that you possess certain qualities that are pretty desired in some high business positions (where there’s usually a lot of money involved).

In order to spend that 15-20 percent of your life without having any regrets and without feeling like you’re just losing time, doing something you despise, you need to believe in your God given skills – there must be a thing you do best, which makes you feel natural doing it – and if you haven’t discovered it yet, there are a few simple tests that could point your talent out. Psychologists usually divide personalities into several types, each of them equally important because of the set of skills crucial for everything to function smoothly.

Protective

A protector, or mentor, is an unusual combination of characteristics. This type of person is strangely guided by intuition. Protectors are, without any exceptions, philanthropists – they feel natural when with people and they always tend to have a lot of strong bonds with various types of people. A great level of tolerance is what makes a protector so unique. Their energy simply breathes with positivity, and that is why they are extremely difficult to be thrown out from their tracks. The obvious careers for this type are connected with different ways of protection or guidance, like counseling, management, being part of the police force, nursing or teaching.

Creative

This type of people is driven by a never-ending source of energy – they can work as long as they have to and they stay concentrated and enthusiastic about it – but only if they work in an area that allows them to be creative. They are often described as quiet and are considered to be loners. The creative type is known for brainpower, which makes them hyperactive in a psychological way – they may be difficult to follow during conversation because of their constant need for brainstorming. The careers most suitable for this type of people need to be related to art, like design, painting or writing – they won’t feel natural if they’re limited by time or space.

Intellectual

The most appreciated quality that people with this type of personality have is the ability to see the endless possibilities around them. Everything they do is based on one thing – logic; you won’t be able to catch them making an irrational decision that doesn’t have a developed theory behind it. They tend to be impersonal and analytical, but that’s simply because they’re abstract in a way that requires from them to be nothing less than a perfectionist. Also, they are usually beyond the need to rediscover themselves with a sudden need for change – in most cases, the intellectuals pick out an area of interest, while they are still children and it’s usually related to development, engineering, professorship or inventing.

Idealistic

When being an idealist, or visionary, you’re driven with pure emotions. Yes, this opens up a list of possibilities for disappointment, but you won’t be able to find a person more kind-hearted or loyal than an idealist. If you have an opportunity to get really close to them, their inner warmness could become hotter for you than the Sun itself. The careers that enable them to maximally develop their potential are those that allow them to rent an office and work alone – they are brilliant as journalists, artists, therapists, activists and consultants.

Each of these types has some amazing qualities that need to be nurtured and developed and each of them should be careful when taking a job – not every surrounding is suitable for them. So, before you actually go to an interview, you should definitely try to examine the office space and see if you find it acceptable. Tend to find an office space that you find comfortable and friendly. A choice regarding this should be equally important as your career-choice – they both need to be harmonized, so you don’t regret not even one of those fifteen to twenty percent of your life you spend working.
